Buying a new computer-what do I need to know?

If you are thinking of buying a new computer or upgrading an old one it can be very confusing especially if you are not familiar with the computer terminology used. How many gigabytes of memory do I need and what speed processor will allow me to do everything I want to do are questions that many people will be asking themselves.

The first thing to decide is whether you want to buy a desktop computer, a laptop or a tablet. This decision will very much depend on what you intend to use the device for as each one has pros and cons. For instance if you are going to be mainly using your computer for word processing, then a laptop with a keyboard would be better than a tablet although there are now products on the market that allow you to use a wireless keyboard with a tablet. If you play a lot of online games, then perhaps a desktop would be a better choice.

The processor is the main part of any computer and it is a good idea to choose the fastest processor that you can afford and the same goes for the size of hard drive because technology moves on so quickly many computers are quickly superseded within months and so it is good advice to buy the best your finances will allow.
