Basic Computer Maintenance

Maintaining a computer is relatively easy, or at least it is when you’re just covering a few things. It can also have a big impact on the longevity of your computer and how well it runs while it lasts. Anyway, here are a few tips on maintaining your PC:

Maintaining Your Hardware;

  • Dusting your hardware can reduce risk of overheating.
  • Cleaning your fan can reduce the risk of overheating.
  • Checking your computer’s internal wiring periodically can let you know about an issue before it becomes serious.

Maintenance Through Software;

  • A defrag is a tried and tested way of reducing the number of pointless processes and lowering your computers CPU load. Basically it reduces the amount of work your computer has to do, but still lets you do all the same old stuff.
  • Removing malware or adware through software cleaning tools is also important. While most of these won’t be stealing your personal information, they can still overwork your computer and should be gotten rid of at every opportunity.
