If you’re looking to purchase a new PC/laptop or upgrade your hard disk drive, you would have probably noticed the terms SSD and SSHD.
- SSD – solid-state drive is a faster version of a USB flash drive. The SSD has no moving parts, meaning it’s good for portable use.
- SSHD – solid-state hybrid drive has a small amount of storage built in, appearing as a single device.
For overall performance, an SSD is recommended for laptop users. The majority of new computers come with an SSD and hard drive. SSD has smaller storage used for programs, whilst the HDD provides storage for a users photos, music and document collection. This is because programs need faster storage, so the SSD works much better for this.
An SSHD is good because it doesn’t need any software to make it work, but we still recommend SSD for the moment.
